International art affairs - the highly important area of interaction between nations is known as “International Affairs”. Washington, DC is one of the most important venues in international affairs. On a daily basis agendas around the city address economic concerns, political debate, environmental priorities, and other topics.
Art and culture in Washington are an important part of international affairs. In addition to Ambassadorial delegations or trade missions and the like, there are active participants in the Arts that exhibit art, work on art, or trade in art. Artists, agents, collectors, dealers, embassies, galleries, artist representatives, social and art clubs, art and artist promoters, and many other participants make up “International Art Affairs”.
The link between the arts and culture of Washington’s international community and DC’s own art scene is at the core of this art affair.
International Art Affairs 2009 Featuring
Three Important Exhibits +
Postconceptualism: An intriguing exhibit curated and organized by Mark Cameron Boyd and Fernando Batista. This array of work presents 21st Century artists whose work extends conceptual art and continues its impact as Postconceptualism.
Video as Video: Rewind to Form: Video is not only video as this exhibit curated by Alicia Eler and Peregrine Honig demonstrates.
Tension: Iran is a nation with an amazingly rich culture and strong traditions dating hundreds of years. There is an immense gap between that rich past and the 21st Century. Two Iranian artists, Hedieh Ilchi and Roshanak Tehrani, present art produced both in Iran and outside of that country.
+ Additional art displayed in the 5th Floor VIP Lounge Area. See new works by Raimundo Rubio and Sue Havens. The work will stay in Washington and will be available through KNEW Gallery for public purchase. See web tab “VideoViews ’09” for a video tour of this and the other exhibits.
